Marrakesh, Morocco 2015

I still have some serious holiday blues even though my trip to Morocco was back in June!

I really enjoyed my time in Morocco with my family. We left one week after my exams had finished, which was a very nice treat. I tried to take as many pictures as I could to remember the holiday by. I thought I'd show you just a few of my favourite pictures of the trip which aren't in any order but I hope you enjoy!

Have you visited Morocco or would you like to? Let me know what your favourite trip has been this year?

What's New?

Long time no blog...

The last time I posted was back in March! Six months later and I'm back again. I've really missed blogging and reading other blogs and although I had the whole of the summer holidays to get back to this I choose now to start again, as soon as I'm going back to school.

Sadly not so many exciting things have happened since March. I finished my first year of sixth form and I now how one more year left in school and I'm so excited to finally be thinking about university and everything that comes with that. I am slightly stressed however, on the application side to it all and actually picking a course to study which I haven't yet decided on but I've been trying to read and watch plenty of university related things. I go back to school on Monday and I might be slightly too excited to use all my new stationary.

Back in May I got myself a new phone and decided to switch to the iPhone 6 which I really like so far, although I do miss the big screen of my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which was also a great phone and a perfect size for watching endless amounts of YouTube videos on and even Netflix at times.

At the end of April I got myself my very first job but as it's my last year in school I decided I wanted to focus on that and so just last week I left that job, I didn't really stick to it for that long but at least I had the experience.

One week after my exams I headed to Morocco with my family which was so amazing and I'll be sharing a few of my favourite photos from that trip with you soon!

Earlier this week I booked tickets to see Hozier in February and I'm so excited for that!! Let me know what songs of his you love listening to if any.

That's all for now, I do have a few posts in mind that I'll try and work on as I really want to keep this a regular thing!

Current Most Played Songs

My Spotify Playlist pretty much consists of Coldplay, Hozier, Tom Odell and Mumford&Son's albums and has been the only music I've listened to. However, I did try listening to some current music that's out now except I don't seem to like much of it. These are just a few of the songs I've been loving recently.
  1. Coldplay- Shiver
  2. Coldplay - Warning sign
  3. Coldplay- Trouble
  4. Hozier- In A Week
  5. James Bay- Hold Back The River
  6. Beyoncé- Crazy In Love
  7. Sam Smith- I'm Not The Only One
  8. Popdanthology 2014
  9. Ariana Grande- One Last Time
  10. Nick Jonas- Jealous
What songs have you been listening to lately?

Umberto Giannini: Haircare

Back to a few days after boxing day I headed over to Boots to check out what things they still had left and I managed to grab the last of the Umberto Giannini hair set in the first picture above for only £8!. Inside came a voucher for money off Umberto Giannini products and so not too long ago I went back and purchased the products in the second picture. I'm just going to get straight to it and say that I LOVE these products! I adore the packaging and the product itself is just as good. Most of the products in this brand are around the £6 price which isn't bad at all! There are a number of different ranges such as products for curly hair, shiny hair and frizzy hair. The curly and frizzy products appealed to me most because that's the state of my hair pretty much all the time. Note, that these products all have a smell to them, I really like the smell and I don't find it to be too overpowering.

1. Curl Friends: Pure Curls Detangling Shampoo

'This gently cleansing and detangling shampoo will de-frizz, smooth and tame curly. Specially formulated with conditioning Polymers to give an anti-static effect resulting in glossy, frizz free finish'

Personally I only like to use shampoos targeted for dandruff, My favourite one is from The Body Shop. I felt that my hair was more greasy than glossy and out of all of the products, this is my least favourite.

2. Curl Friends: Bouncy Curls Curl Enhancing Conditioner

'This smoothing and detangling conditioner contains styler polymers to instantly de-frizz and tame for soft, silky, bouncy curls'

Overall I think this product pretty much worked the way it says it does, My hair definitely started to feel nicer after using this along with the other products

3. Curl Friends: Ultimate Curls Nourishing Oil

'Formulated with super rich coconut oil to norish thirsty, dry hair'

This would probably have to be my most favourite product, I love how it makes my hair feel. I apply this to towel dried hair from mid length to the ends of my hair and I think that it nourishes my hair well as my end were usually quite dry.

4. Curl Friends: Create A Curl Scrunching Jelly

'Silicone free and with all day hold, it helps to enhance natural curls and create waves'

I haven't used this product very much as I don't really understand these sorts of products. However, the one time I did use this on damp hair, it definitely enhanced my curls and seem to add volume too.

5. Beauty Secrets: Overnight Beauty Moisture Balm

'Hydration is crucial for healthy looking hair'

This hydrated my hair so well as I used it when my end were feeling really dry. The next day I woke up with really soft ends which is something I haven't had in a very long time.

6. Beauty Secrets: Perfect Beauty Finishing Cream

'Imagine a moisturiser that adds texture, smootes frizz and slicks ends with a divne shine. This wonder cream gives that professional salon finish to all styles'

This is great for a touch up to the dryer areas of your hair, it leaves your hair hydrated and soft just like the overnight beauty moisture balm.

7. Frizzi: When Nothing Else Will Do Intense Recovery Mask With Argon Oil

'This luxurious mask will help repair and smooth damaged, rebellious hair'

I wash my hair twice a week so using a heavy product like this is fine. I love how this makes my hair feel. I agree that it does de-frizz my hair and the argon oil helps to keep my hair a little softer.

Let me know if you've tried anything from Umberto Giannini and if you haven't then let me know what your favourite haircare products are, especially if you have a frizzy, curly mess like mine!

New Year, New Books

I'm so obsessed with buying books recently, mainly due to the fact that when I eventually move out I want a room full of books, sort of like my own little library. I see so many of library style pictures on tumblr so I thought why not just start stocking up on a few books now to build my collection. I do obviously want to actually feed these books and I intend to at some point! I'm currently half way through Paper Towns by John Green and I'm so excited for the film version to be released, starring none other than Cara Delevingne. I'm thinking that once I've read each book I could do a review or my thoughts style posts for you. If so let me know which books you'd like me to talk about. This is quite a short post but I thought I'd share this with you anyway.

  1. The Maze Runner series by James Dashner
  2. The Shock Of The Fall by Nathan Filer
  3. We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler
  4. Paper Towns by John Green
  5. Looking For Alaska by John Green
  6. Alexa Chung It
  7. Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth
  8. Love, Tanya by Tanya Burr
Let me know some of your book recommendations. If you've read any of these books, let me know your thoughts!

Best Dressed: The 57th Grammy Awards (2015)

(Before we start I would like to say sorry for not post often, I have a lot of things keeping me busy and I never have anytime to spare. Also I know the Grammy's were a while ago but I still wanted to share this post with you all!)

As with most of the award shows I write about, I haven't actually watched this one either but I truthfully only take notice of the outfits. On Sunday 8th of February The 57th Grammy Awards took place and like always I quickly looked to see what outfits I loved to put together in this post and I hope you enjoy. Also I can't stop looking at how beautiful all these women are and I seriously wish I could have the chance to wear dresses like these! Be sure to check out my other post in my Best Dressed series here if you like this one.

Rocsi Diaz // Beyoncé // Katharine McPhee

Ariana Grande // Kendall Jenner // Khloe Kardashian // Kylie Jenner // Miley Cyrus

Kim Kardashian West // Chrissy Teigen // Jessie J

Let me know in the comments below which style you liked best, I don't think I can choose just one, I love all of them way too much! Also let me know who your favourite performance was of the night, I saw a video of Hozier's performance and I loved it!

Birthday Wishlist: "You Don't Have To Get Me Anything"

birthday wishlist

Alexa Chung 'It' // Teen Vogue Handbook // Divergent Trilogy // Acrylic Storage // Benefit Blusher 'Rockateur' // Narsissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette (as far as I know its has only been released in the US so this one might have to wait a little longer) // Urban Decay Naked Palette // Bobbi Brown Bronzer // Nike Roshe Runs
I'm super excited for my birthday this year and it's in less than a month (February 10th), not sure why as it's only my 17th when last year was my 16th and I wasn't that excited at all, I didn't do anything remotely interesting to celebrate, it pretty much felt like another day. I feel that as I'm growing older, I'm learning a whole lot more and I'm also gaining more and more responsibility and before you know it high school will be over with and I'll hopefully be moving out! In the mean time I'm still trying to remind myself to just have fun and not to take anything too seriously. I'm not sure if you got what I meant with the title but I'm sure I'm not the only one who replies with "aww don't worry, you don't have to buy anything" when someone asks what would you like for your birthday, I feel like this is my automatic response to a question like that.

I thought you'd enjoy seeing my little birthday wishlist. I've seen a few of these style posts in the past and I actually enjoy reading them so I thought you might too. Obviously I wont be getting all these things and I don't expect to either, it's just a wishlist of things for the family members who are constantly asking me what I want for my birthday and perhaps might want to buy one of these things if they'd like and with that being said this is the birthday wishlist I've come up with. Usually my parents will end up spending the most money on me which I'm always very grateful for. Even though I've shared a few of these items with my mum, I did tell her that I'd much prefer a day trip to London, shopping in Westfield or a trip to the Harry Potter studios as I still haven't been! To me, a day trip out to one of these places would be more enjoyable as I'd be getting to share the experience with other people. These items are on my own personal wishlist for when I have some money to spend so even if I don't receive any of these for my birthday, I fully intend to at some point. Out of all the items above I'd be super happy receiving the Urban Decay Naked Palette or the Nike Roshe Run.

When it comes to birthdays the thing I look forward to the most is probably the birthday cake, it's just too good to resist! I also love having my birthday on a school day for some weird reason, mainly because you can use the 'but it's my birthday' excuse with the teachers or am I the only one who does this? I usually go for a meal with my family, a restaurant of my choice. I never have big birthday parties any more either, I don't like the stress of it all being on me therefore I choose not to host a party. However I do remember one year when I turned 7 I had a huge party in a place called the Wacky Warehouse, a soft play kinda place with a huge pall pit and slides, this would probably be my best ever birthday. I've even had it snow on my birthday a few times in the past and I remember going for a walk and falling flat down on my butt, most likely better than birthday beatings (birthday beating is more of a joke if you didn't know, I haven't actually had any).

I have some how managed to turn what should be a short post into a long unnecessary post but I hoped you enjoyed it anyway. Let me know in the comments if you have any of the items above and what your thoughts are on them. I'd also love to know your favourite birthday experience or memory!

Best Dressed: The Golden Globes 2015

As I've previously said many times before, I really love award shows purely because I enjoy seeing what everyone's wearing! I haven't actually watched The Golden Globes yet but I've seen many pictures going around of the whole event and so I thought I'd share with you my favourite looks of the very glamorous evening. If you'd like you can read some of my other posts in my 'Best Dressed' series here
(all pictures taken from Google)

  1. First we have Jennifer Aniston in quite a simple piece compared to others of the night but I think she looks very elegant. I love Jennifer as an actress, she portrays her roles well and the latest movie I've watched of hers is Horrible Bosses 2, definitely worth seeing!
  2. Next we have Lana Del Rey, one of my all time favorite artists! She always looks so beautiful and her look reminds me a lot of The Great Gatsby.
  3. Kate Hudson is looks classically gorgeous in this dress and it could possibly be seen as a bit risky with all the cut outs but I think she works it well and I honestly didn't not recognize her at first glance!

  1. I'm obsessed with Emma Stone and adore her in the film Easy A. I love how she's stood out by not wearing a dress like most people would expect but instead a jumpsuit, the detailing on the top keeps this look from becoming too boring and plain.
  2. Lupita Nyong'O looks stunning in her gown, I think the colour looks great on her too.
  3. I'm still trying to rap my head around the fact that Jennifer Lopez is 45 years old yet she always manages to look so incredible! I have no other words other than the fact she looks strikingly beautiful in this dress!

However for me I think Nina Dobrev topped every other outfit of the night. I love Nina Dobrev and I'm sure that a lot of you Vampire Diaries fanatics do too. She looks breathtaking in this dress and for me personally, she stole the show! I did also like Selena Gomez and Lily Collin's looks however I couldn't find any good pictures on their outfits.

Who were your favourite looks of the night? Let me know in the comments below!

Whose Side Are You On?: The 100

(all pictures taken from Google)

So it's been quite a while since I last recommended you all a TV show to watch, the last one being a post on The Vampire Diaries back in September which you can read here or read a Pretty Little Liars one here and my Gossip Girl one here. I've realised that I've recommended quite long series to watch that include at least 5 seasons containing over 20 episodes. That is why I thought I'd share with you my thoughts on The 100 which should be more of an easier and quicker watch. I hope you enjoy this post and perhaps I'll convince you into watching it.

Background

The 100 is an American post-apocalyptic drama television series based on the same named book. The 100 first premiered Wednesday, March 19th 2014 and is currently on its mid season break of its second season with shows lasting around 50 minutes and season 1 having 13 episodes and season 2 having 16 episodes. This show appears on the UK 'Channel 4' and has only just began its second season or you can just watch it online like I did because I'm too impatient and like to watch it the same time as they do over in America.

Plot

The series is set 97 years after a disastrous nuclear war that wiped out the majority of life on earth. At first the only known survivors are the 2,400 people living on a space station in Earth's orbit prior to the war, named 'The Ark'. The leader of The Ark, Thelonious Jaha (Isaiah Washington), is referred to as Chancellor and is the decision maker for all activities surrounding The Ark. These people on The Ark will also be known as 'Sky People' later on in the show and they may have survived all these year but only due to resources being scarce which results in crimes punishable by death ("floating") however those under 18 years must be imprisoned. The Arks life-support system seems to be failing which causes the Chancellor to make the decision of sending 100 juvenile prisoners to the Earth to determine whether it is fit for living or not. The show focuses mainly on Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor) who is one out of The 100 to be sent down to Earth who ends up being quite a leader figure to the rest of The 100 along with Bellamy Blake (Bob Morley) and Finn Collins (Thomas McDonell). Soon The 100 realise they're not the only ones on earth and that in fact there are quite a few other people in which they are referred to as grounders, reapers and mountain men. Perhaps the war is not yet over?

Characters

I don't know if I've told you all this before but I usually like the main character a whole lot less then the others. I don't know what it is but they always tend to annoy me or I'll go through stages of liking them and then back to disliking them. When it comes to The 100, I instantly knew which characters I would like and I'm still completely in love with them. First up we have Octavia Blake (Marie Avgeropoulos) she is one of The 100 and portrays quite a strong female role, who really doesn't like to be told what to do buy her older brother Bellamy Blake (Bob Morley) who is also another favourite of mine. I love the sibling relationship between then and for me they would have to be my top favourite characters of the show. Next we have the Chancellor Thelonious Jaha (Isaiah Washington) even thought he did send The 100 to their possible doom I still like his character and if you've watched the show then you know how much sympathy you feel towards him at the end of season 1. Lastly we have Lincoln (Ricky Whittle) who is a grounder on Earth and I don't want to give too much away but if you have watched the show you could probably guess my reasons on why I like him.

From what I've watched so far, I'd say that season 2 is definitely the best. After every episode I find myself quite often in shock from all the twists or I'm often left wanting answers to what I've witnessed. My gasps and my Oh My Gosh moments 100% annoy my family but they don't understand it because they've never watched it and I can't help react they way I do because I love watching this show. If you do watch this show let me know how your reactions to the episodes end up.

I hope that you enjoy these style posts as I really do love talking about my favourite TV shows. Let me know who your favourite characters are if you've watched the show!

(Let me know whether or not you like my review posts, do you like that I include background, plot and characters, should I talk more about a certain thing, anything like that would be very helpful as I want to make sure that you all enjoy reading these posts!)

Goals For 2015

I just want to say sorry for not having my own photos in recent posts, I really wanted to get these posts up but there hasn't always been good lightening to have a picture with each post.

I'm pretty sure that if you're reading this right now you're probably guilty of in the past breaking a few resolutions or slacking on them like myself, I don't think I even remember what resolutions I set myself for 2014 but what better way to start of 2015 than to set yourself a few new resolutions. I personally think that jotting down your resolutions as you would for a to-do list is better than storing it in your head as you can actually visualize it, be reminded of it and not forget a few months down the line. Whether that's a note on your phone, written in a diary or blog post like this one or made into a work of art which you can pin up to remind yourself each day, any of these will work just fine. Something you can always go back to would be great for when you actually reach that goal and get that satisfying feeling of ticking it of, kind of like a bucket list. I don't think it matters how bizarre some of them are as it's great to have something to work towards. I thought that in this post I would share with you my 2015 resolutions, perhaps it will give you some ideas of your own or maybe you have similar ones to mine, I think that this post will be a nice thing to go back to throughout the year and at the end of the year I'll be able to see if I have achieved any of them.

1. I'm sure you're all aware of the phrase 'new year, new me' as cliché as it is I always have this in mind or at least to be an overall better version of myself.

2. My fitness and health is always on my mind and towards the end of 2014 I was actually doing quite well with going to the gym regularly. However it can be hard if you have a lot of work to do and you don't want to overdue it. This year I hope to keep up my fitness at the gym and as well as this I want to make more healthier decisions with what I eat. I think both these things are very important as if you do it right you'll feel less tired, less slugglish, you'll feel more energized. For inspiration I like to follow fitness and health channels on YouTube or on Bloglovin' and on any other social media.

3. School is probably my main priority as I really want to do well and get things done to the best of my ability first time as I do plan on going to University, I don't know exactly what I want to do there yet so that is also something I should start to think about.

4. Owls In The Summer is definitely something I want to improve on which I know will only come with practice and experience. I think at some point I want to purchase a blog design as I think it will give my blog more of a clean and fresh look. I obviously want to improve on my photography and hopefully purchase an actual camera rather than using my phone. I want to come up with original content which i know will be slightly difficult as their are a lot of bloggers out there all with their own series. I would also like to add in more fashion as this is originally what I intended to do on this blog however I'm not yet that confident with the whole idea of outfit posts as that will probably require someone to take photos of me. I haven't really told anyone about my blog as I wanted to make sure I was serious about it and kept it up for while but I suppose that is another goal for me, to be confident with this to share with others.

5. I need to read more! I read now and again but I want to a least read 1/2 new books each month. I've recently purchased a few new books and will hopefully do a few blogposts on them but if you have any recommendations, leave me a comment below.

6. In between all the seriousness I want to make sure that I still enjoy life as I'm still young and don't have to worry about much at this stage in life. It's important to make sure you're happy as being the opposite isn't much fun at all but I also need to remember that I will have to rely on myself making things happen in order to be happy.

Let me know in the comments what your number one goal for this new year.

xoxo
