My 2014 Round Up

I've read a lot of these posts recently, I've loved every single one of them but the ones I have read have been a more month by month reflection. However my year was pretty boring and I can't remember everything so this will be quite brief but I hope you enjoy this post!

Back in February I turned 16 which I guess you could say is the official teenager age, there wasn't much of a difference I felt in myself except 16 is when you can get a job which I was looking forward to as it meant I could become a little more independent and rely less on my parents. However with just a few hours left for the new year I still have not got one job but that could be due to the fact that there isn't much of an opportunity where I live or that I was just unlucky whenever I did tried.

Although I didn't mind this too much as around May/June time I began to sit my GCSE exams I wanted to put all my focus into this to make sure I get it right first time. Those few months of revising and sitting my exams weren't the best, I had practically no social life, no sleep and towards the end I started feeling a bit lifeless and a lot like a robot. I was so glad when it all finally finished, I remember my last exam was physics and I couldn't stop smiling as I kept thinking that within an hour I would be free of it all and it was a great feeling when I eventually did finish.

The Summer holidays was a long one for me as I had an additional 6 weeks off on top of the 6 weeks we usually get which I think was well deserved after all those exams. Towards the start of the summer my year had its Record Of Achievement ceremony, similar to a graduation, I loved that day so much and to me it has to be my highlight of 2014 as we got to dress up, ride in limos, have a nice meal out than party as a year group at the end of the night. Shortly after this we then had our Prom which was also a lot of fun as I've never really dressed up as much and as it was Prom it was very acceptable to go all out. At the start of the holidays I just wanted to really relax a lot, I am guilty of spending the majority of my time watching shows on Netflix, my favourite discoveries being Gossip Girl (review here), Pretty Little Liars (review here). The Vampire Diaries (review here) and The Originals. However in August my mum thought it would be a good idea to cancel our Netflix subscription which I was annoyed with at first but it was probably for the best. Looking back on those 12 weeks I didn't actually do much and the whole thing went by pretty fast. The only productive thing I did do was starting up this blog towards the end of July (first post here). I'm so glad I decided to do this as I find the whole thing rather great and in these short few months of starting my blog I have learnt quite a lot! I also want to say thank you to all the lovely comments you've left and for follwoing me on bloglovin' if you have, I'm currently on 86 followers which isn't much but a big achievement for me. Towards the end of August I received my GCSE results after a very long, anxious wait in the build up towards it, I did get upset here an there before hand but all my hard work did pay off and I was so pleased with myself. As a treat my parents took me to London for the day which I loved because I find London so fascinating (London post here).

Soon after came the hard choice of choosing my A level subjects but in the end I took Chemistry, Biology, History and Spanish and weirdly I seem to be enjoying Chemistry the most. I think underestimated how tough A levels would be even though my older sister did warn me but I'm quite an organised person and more focused on school than she was so I thought I'd be able to handle it but that was far from it. I remember on the first day of school I came home crying and asking my mum if I could just drop out of school completely, perhaps it was all that time of school but it just felt strange being back and it took me quite a while to adjust. A lot of work is involved in A levels and most of it is down to your own accord and what bit extra you do to help yourself. Towards the end of this term I was really slacking but I knew that I'd be having these few weeks off and even though it was Christmas I knew that I had to try and get back on track and reorganize myself ready for the new year. To be honest I am dreading sitting my exams in the summer as my GCSEs literally gave me nightmares and the whole idea of exams is quite daunting but that is why I'm going to use this time off to prepare myself as there really is no time for falling behind.

On another note 2014 has bought along a lot of new discoveries and you can read my 2014 favourites post here if you'd like. I've also loved all the blogposts and videos on 2014 favourites. Reading back through this post I have realised nothing exciting has really happened and a lot of my year was taken over my school work but hopefully 2015 will bring about some new and exciting things and there will be a new years resolution post tomorrow on the goals I want to set myself for the new year. I think that this year has definitely flown by but I'm actually quite glad as in just 2 years time I will be finished with school and hopefully living in another city starting university.

Let me know in the comments below what your 2014 highlight was, I'm interested to know no matter how big or small it was to you! Also I'd like to wish you all a Happy New Year!

My Favourites Of 2014

For me 2014 has bought about a lot of new and exciting discoveries. You'll all be familiar with this style post and there will most likely be a lot of these going around within the next few days but I thought I'd share with you my favourites of 2014 from beauty to films, music to fashion and anything else in between. In a way its almost like a 2014 awards post, either way I hope you enjoy!

Fashion/Store: This year I have been totally obsessed with River Island and Zara, I'm never disappointed with either of these shops except the fact that they're quite expensive but I do try and look past when I spot something that I fall in love with. Clothing wise, my favourites go back to what I often wore in the summer, the pieces I picked out all seemed to have come from Zara apart from the second pair of shoes which were from Primark, you can no longer get these anymore but still worth showing you.

Fragrance: For me this is easy, my most worn fragrance is the Gilly Hicks Pyrmont Blue fragrance which I featured in a favourites post here. The smell is fresh and not at all heavy, it has served me well as an everyday fragrance.

Blog:Before starting this blog back in July I had followed quite a few blogs to learn a few tips and understand what the blogging world is about. Since starting my blog I have discovered even more fellow bloggers and I've loved reading their posts. Although I love a lot of blogs I love, I will narrow it down to a few!

YouTube: This year I have spent a lot more time on YouTube, I'm just way too addicted. Towards the end of this year I have especially loved watching vlogs and so I'm loving Vlogmas this year as I've discovered a lot of new channels too.

How To Tackle The Boxing Day Sales

(image taken from Google)

Sales can be quite a daunting experience for some, especially if you don't know how to go about them. I think that the most important thing to do is to to plan ahead of a sale as jumping straight into it can often be overwhelming. Like many others I love a good bargain but I know that some of you might have a real hate for the whole idea of sales. That is where this post comes into play, I'm going to share with you a few tips on what I've learnt from sale shopping which I hope you'll find useful and hopefully this will come in handy on Fridays boxing day sales.

1.List what items you plan on buying during the sales. This year I'm looking for a smart coat and a new bag and then after I have those, anything else that catches my eye will also go into the shopping bag.

2.To help to make the shopping list it's often quite handy to go online a few days before just to have an initial browse on whats out their right now and where you could possibly find what you're looking for. I tend to do this on the week of the sale.

3. Once you know what you want you should plan what shops you want to visit and in what order you'd like to visit them in. I know that for me the first shop is always River Island followed by Zara, Boots, Superdrug and Debanhams, these are the main shops I like to go to on the first day of the sales as they're very popular and often stuff I hope to buy gets sold out.

4. Plan who you'll go with, how you'll get their and at what times. I usually go with my mum and sister, we go by car and we go in time for the opening of the first store we like to go to.

5. If you're planning to go for the opening of the store it's probably best to get an outfit and your bag sorted the night before as for me I know that when I wake up very early in the morning I can often resemble a zombie and it may take me a while to fully wake up. When planning your outfit pick something causal and comfortable especially when it comes to your shoes. I usually go for a pair of boots of converse and I often get quite hot inside the shopping center so although it may seem like a good idea to layer up because of the cold weather, perhaps leave a few layers in the car as you'll probably be carrying a lot of shopping bags once you're done. Like I just mentioned, you'll most likely be carrying a lot so when it comes to your bag just go for the essentials. For me this includes money, a bottle of water, tissues, a spray/perfume, lip balm, powder and my phone.

For me I don't usually shop online on the first day of the sales as I much prefer to go into a shop and look at the items properly. I find that by going online you tend to spend forever browsing through the pages and by the time it comes to checkout, some of the things in your shopping bag might already be out of stock. Having said that I do like to have a look online once everything's calmed down a bit. Also remember not to worry if something you wanted isn't there straight away as I'm sure that most places wait a week before you're allowed to return stuff and new lines are added regularly too, so keep checking!

These are just a few of the things I like to keep in mind when it comes to sale shopping. I hope you've found this post useful. Let me know your thoughts on sales and whether you like shopping instore or online.

Urban Decay Naked Flushed: Strip

Although I've seen videos or posts on Urban Decay and have also looked at some of the products in store, I hadn't really tried anything from there before, well that was until a recent shopping trip. Not long back I went shopping and luckily for me (not so lucky for my purse) there was 10% off at Debenhams on all beauty and after so long of lusting over the Urban Decay products I decided to just finally purchase something and with that being said I purchased myself the Urban Decay Naked Flushed in the shade 'Strip'. I know this product has a lot of hype in the beauty world however I've only heard people talk about the original shade (Naked) and none of the others, Strip, Naked, Native and Streak are their current shades.I thought that for this post I'd let you know my thoughts on this little palette for those of you who have a similar skin tone to mine or for those of you wondering whether the product is worth purchasing.

Price: Originally £22 but £19.80 with 10% discount

Products: You get a bronzer, highlight and then a blush, perfect for the whole highlight and contour whether that's a light dust of the products for the day or packed on intensely for a glam night look. It's also great as it's a 3 in 1 product which makes it very easy to travel with or put in your purse as it also comes with mirror.

Pigmentation: I've found the pigmentation of the bronzer and highlight to be amazing however I find myself having to keep adding with the blush as I don't seem to get an instant colour pay off, in fact there was no pigmentation at all when I first tried it. I remember a YouTuber not too long ago had the same problem with some of the eye shadows in the Naked palettes and so scrapped a top layer of. I really didn't want to ruin the palette however I did manage to do something similar and I have found that after doing that the colour pay off is a lot better.

Overall I'd really recommend picking up one of these as it's a convenient 3 in 1 product, great quality and for a good price too! Do you have this palette, if so what are your thoughts? Are there any other products from Urban Decay worth buying? Let me know in the comments below!
